A journey of growth and opportunity

Dragoș Dumitrescu’s career at Alewijnse has been one of continuous development and growth, marked by a blend of technical challenges and personal achievements. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2012, Dragoș began his career at Daewoo shipyards in Mangalia. However, it wasn’t long before he found his way to Alewijnse, a company that had been recommended by friends who worked there.

In February 2014, Dragoș joined Alewijnse as a Steelwork Coordinator, overseeing his first project. Over time, his role evolved. From managing just one project, Dragoș soon found himself balancing multiple projects simultaneously. His role expanded further as he took on responsibilities across the entire company’s steelwork activities. Today, Dragoș is not only responsible for the projects but also for evaluating technical improvements and optimizations, in his role as Team Lead for the Installing department.

A day at Alewijnse

Each day at Alewijnse presents new challenges and opportunities. Dragoș’s workday begins early, around 6:45 AM, and ends around 4 PM. But the job isn’t about routine. It’s about adapting to the needs of the day, whether it’s writing reports, reviewing documentation, or handling emails. The variety in his work is something he truly values, and it keeps him motivated to continue delivering high-quality results.

One of the standout moments in Dragoș’s career was his first international project in Indonesia, where he worked for nearly two years. It was there that he truly learned how to organize himself and his work while interacting with colleagues from all over the world. The experience of working abroad shaped his approach to both professional and personal growth.

A collaborative and supportive environment

What Dragoș enjoys most about Alewijnse is the collaborative environment. “Every discussion is like a debate,” he shares. “It’s not about someone telling you what to do; it’s about working together to find the best solution.” For Dragos, this openness and team spirit are key elements of the company’s culture, where each colleague’s contribution is valued and respected.

The flexibility in his role, the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from different backgrounds, and the chance to work on diverse projects make Alewijnse a place where Dragoș feels he can continue growing, both professionally and personally. His advice to anyone considering a job here? “Be dedicated, involved from day one, and the results will follow. Patience is key.”

A future built on opportunity

Dragoș sees his future at Alewijnse as one that allows him to continue making an impact, not just through the projects he manages but also by contributing to the long-term development of the company. “It’s not always about the title,” he says. “It’s about making a lasting change for the better, for those who will follow.”
